At power plants last week Due to the disturbance, power cuts were imposed in some parts of the island

Power Minister Udaya Kamanpila has said that 3,000 metric tonnes of diesel was supplied on two occasions and that it would no longer be possible to supply such fuel without dollars.

The Minister further said that if the fuel currently in stock is supplied to power plants, there will be a shortage of fuel for vehicles.

The Minister of Power and Energy has pointed out that without fuel it is possible to cut off power for two hours and bring the situation under control and motorists will not be able to take such action.
